SEVERE anemia
pure old good luck.
We picked her up from a shelter on Tuesday
afternoon and dropped her off at our
veterinary clinic for evaluation. On
Wednesday morning, she lost consciousness
at the veterinary clinic. They immediately
revived her and put her on IV fluids. Her
PCV (Packed Cell Volume - the percentage of
oxygen-carrying red blood cells in the blood)
was only 13%. Normal is 45%-55%.
On Saturday morning, the vet had to give
Noelani an emergency blood transfusion to
save her life. This little girl will remain on
IV's for at several days. She is in bad shape,
but deserves a break.
Right now, we only need enough to get her
through three days of critical care at our vet.
